2nd BIG blog: More information

2nd BIG blog

Hello! It's been awhile since I posted a BIG blog instead of short little post on my blog but this is a BIG one so prepare for information! Recently my Psychology studies have been going great and I have gotten a lot of information on the history and structure of psychology. I have also found sixteen branches of psychology which are listed at the bottom of the post. Did you know that psychology started off as just a branch of philosophy and slowly throughout history became a serious and important science. Speaking of psychology and science I discovered that psychology is on a bridge between art and science but I found this and it proves psychology to be a science: Psychology is a science because it analyzes human behavior and the human mind. Art is free of rules and totally based on subjective conceptions. Science is based on the objective analysis of facts that belong to our reality, studies, and comparisons. Art is based on talent and intuition. I found many interesting things during my research and I must say that psychology is a complex and interesting subject and it becomes more and more interesting as time passes. Soon I am going to be doing an interview with a psychologist and I'm going to record the conversation so the information is spot on. I will be posting more information more frequently and I am finding even more experiments, studies, and types of psychology. I have gotten very far and I will try to post more information to make sure I am not the only one learning. That is all and Till next post.

16 branches of psychology: Social, Personality, Health, Forensic, Experimental, Educational, Development, Cross-Cultural, Comparative, Cognitive, Biopsychology, Behavioral, and Abnormal, psychodynamic, humanistic, and evolutionary.

Posts

So quick I just wanted to tell everyone who checks my blog that for this blog I will be posting a minimum of 2 blogs a month, that doesn't mean I will ONLY post twice a month, and one Vlog a month. I think I might do only one Vlog a month but then again there's nothing wrong with a lot of posts. So I just wanted to get that little detail out of the way so I can make sure you guys know what's up and I can keep on posting about things I find during my researching. Well that's all so until next post.

Crazy experiment

Arguably the most famous experiment in the history of psychology, the 1971 Stanford prison study put a microscope on how social situations can affect human behavior. The researchers, led by psychologist Philip Zimbardo, set up a mock prison in the basement of the Stanford psych building and selected 24 undergraduates (who had no criminal record and were deemed psychologically healthy) to act as prisoners and guards. Researchers then observed the prisoners (who had to stay in the cells 24 hours a day) and guards (who shared eight-hour shifts) using hidden cameras
The experiment, which was scheduled to last for two weeks, had to be cut short after just six days due to the guards' abusive behavior -- in some cases they even inflicted psychological torture -- and the extreme emotional stress and anxiety exhibited by the prisoners.
"The guards escalated their aggression against the prisoners, stripping them naked, putting bags over their heads, and then finally had them engage in increasingly humiliating sexual activities," Zimbardo told American Scientist. "After six days I had to end it because it was out of control -- I couldn't really go to sleep at night without worrying what the guards could do to the prisoners."

Found this doing research and I can't believe this actually happened. I just hope they don't do things like this nowadays but I guess my research will show.

What's up

Viewers, I know I said this before but I've decided to expand on this topic.

For my Genius hour this year I'm studying Psychology, study of the mind and behavior. There are many branches of psychology, some examples include cognitive, abnormal, and cross cultural. Psychology is the study of the mind and behavior and allows the person learning about psychology to gain further understanding on our behavior/actions, our mind, and our brain. Psychology is a very complex and interesting study and is used in many situations/places such as advertisements, therapy, sometimes even in conversations, etc.
I'm doing Psychology because it has always been interesting to me, it is a good thing/skill to know, It's used in many places/situations, It will allow me to learn about the brain and mind which are very interesting topics to me as well, and also a little bit just because it's hard.
I'm going for a year of learning all I can about my topic, more understanding on how Psychology connects to the world, how Psychology can help someone in life, and what it takes to become a psychologist or just get a degree in psychology basically.
I'm going to see if my goals are being achieved by 1.checking what research I have and seeing if it seems like enough for the time of year 2.When I see things connected to psychology in my everyday life I will make sure to take note and try to not miss things like that 3.Try to use what I have learned of psychology in my life and try to use it on/for people and for 4. only time can tell.
That is all
Genius hour has truly begun
